Athene Letters Mail Relay ("the relay") is a personal tool operated by a single individual (the "operator") for private family correspondence. This page explains what Google user data the relay accesses and how it is handled.
Who uses it
Only the operator signs in with Google. The relay is not offered to the public and has no other accounts.
What Google data it accesses
- Send mail (gmail.send): to send a document from the operator's own Gmail account when the operator's family correspondent asks for it by email.
- Read mail (gmail.readonly): only to find the messages the relay itself sent and any replies in those same conversation threads, so a reply can be passed back to the correspondent.
How the data is used and stored
- Access tokens and the list of sent messages are stored on the operator's own computer, in files readable only by the operator's account.
- The relay reads only threads it started. It does not scan, index or copy the rest of the mailbox.
- No Google user data is sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or used to train models.
Retention and deletion
Local records are kept only as long as the operator needs them for the correspondence and can be deleted by the operator at any time. Access can be revoked at myaccount.google.com/permissions, which immediately stops the relay from reading or sending mail.
